Let’s start with a typical scenario:
A customer comes in and says something like, “I’d like to have a pig driving a race car for my logo.” After answering a few of our questions, our artists would start with sketches.
They sketch out different race cars, different pigs, working with the elements to put together a winning combination.
The next step is proofing. Our artists show the customer the sketches, usually by e-mail. The sketches may be fine-tuned by the customer with suggestions such as make the car this particular model or make the pig happier. The artist alters the sketch and sends it out again as a proof. When a final sketch is approved, the artist scans the drawing and places it into one of our computer programs to render it digitally. At this stage, he’ll pick fonts and colors for the design. Once complete, the design is sent out to the customer again for either final approval or more corrections.
As the customer, the art department encourages you to carefully look over your design, read the text to make sure no spelling errors occurred, colors are correct, the position of the imprint/size is appropriate and give us your honest feedback. The artists want you to be pleased with your design so be sure to communicate your thoughts fully about the design. If you have any concerns about the design, this is the time to bring them up, as the further the design goes through the process the more costly it is to make changes. Because of this reason, any changes made after the proof approval will result in additional charges.
The proof will be in the form of an emailed jpeg image, a faxed copy image, or a printed hard copy for you to come and view. So be sure to give us more than one form of contacting you. The following important information will also be attached with every proof:
Please respond as soon as possible so that we can process the job to meet the deadline. Your order will be placed on hold until we hear from you. Feel free to call us at Signet 540- 665-9651, or1-800-787-8337. If you prefer to respond by email: art@signetscreen.com. Please reference your order name and number if possible.
Once approved, the artist sends the design or text layout to the appropriate output device. If the art is for T-shirts, a film positive is generated with each color on a separate film.
If the art is for a large format poster, the art is sent to our "rip" program and set up to print from the Versa cam large format printer on the selected material such as vinyl, gloss paper or artist canvas depending on the end use. Or the art may be printed on the Summa DC3 as a full color scratch guard protected adhesive-backed decal. Another option for the art is to go to the Sign Maker Camm-1 Pro vinyl cutter to be cut from colored vinyl and used to create a sign.
It is important that our artist know the end use of the design. It saves them time in creating the design for the appropriate device.
